Saturday, October 20th - Cradleboard Demonstrations with Babe & Carla Hemlock

10 am - Noon and 1 pm - 3 pm 

Cradleboards are a protective baby-carrier used in the first few months of an infant's life. Babe and Carla Hemlock are an Kahnawake Mohawk husband-and-wife artistic team creating some of the most beautiful and elaborate cradleboards throughout Haudenosaunee territory. Babe is the woodcarver and painter, and Carla creates the textiles that cover the cradleboards. Demonstrations will continue throughout the day.
